What is the insurance "excess"?

In the event that the vehicle is damaged during the rental, the insurance will cover the cost of repairing the damage, up to a maximum of 50,000 euro, and excluding the first 1,000 euro (known as the insurance excess: this amount may vary depending on the damage type). Renters are liable for the insurance excess, because they are responsible for the vehicle during the rental period.

The hold on the bank card is used to ensure that this excess is paid in the event of loss or damage.

When making the booking, the renter has the option of signing up for our additional, optional insurance:

The “Partial excess reduction” option, for €7 per day, allows the renter to reduce the insurance excess to €250 (instead of €1,000).

The “Zero excess” option for €15 per day reduces the excess to zero* in the event of damage.

*Excluding parking accidents with no identified third party
